Walking in Obedience – (Day 21)

A man holds an open Bible. The concept of a relationship with God.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” – John 14:15 (NKJV)

Walking in obedience to God’s commands is a vital aspect of our relationship with Him. John 14:15 underscores that our love for Jesus is expressed through our obedience to His commandments. Obedience is not about legalistic rule-following but about aligning our lives with God’s will and purpose.

Reflect on areas where you might struggle with obedience. Are there specific commands or teachings from Jesus that you find challenging to follow? Obedience requires a heart that is willing to submit to God’s guidance and to live according to His principles.

The Bible teaches us that obedience is a natural outgrowth of our love for God. When we truly love Him, we desire to follow His commands and to live in a way that pleases Him. This involves not just hearing God’s Word but putting it into practice in our daily lives.

As you begin to walk. This might involve making changes in your behavior, attitudes, or priorities. It also means seeking God’s guidance through prayer and Scripture, and being open to the ways He leads you.

Obedience brings blessings and aligns us with God’s will. It leads to a life that is marked by His favor and guidance. Remember that He is always with you, providing strength and support as you seek to live according to His commands.

Prayer:

Lord, I desire to walk in obedience to Your commands and to align my life with Your will. Help me to love You with all my heart and to express that love through my actions. Teach me to hear Your Word and to put it into practice in my daily life. Strengthen me to overcome any areas of disobedience and to follow Your guidance faithfully. I pray that my obedience would reflect my love for You and bring blessings to my life. Thank You for Your grace and for the opportunity to live according to Your commands. Amen.

Verses to Meditate On:

  • 1 John 2:3-6 (NKJV)
“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
  • James 1:22 (NKJV)
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
  • Deuteronomy 5:33 (NKJV)
“You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.”
  • Luke 11:28 (NKJV)
“But He said, ‘More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!’”
  • Psalm 119:1 (NKJV)
“Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD!”
