“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
When we surrender, it does not mean we are giving up but rather, it’s an act of faith that invites God to take the lead. By trusting Him with our lives, we open ourselves to His peace, which will guard our hearts and minds, no matter what challenges we face.
The word surender comes from the Hebrew word Bitachon (בִּטָּחוֹן). When you look at it’s full meaning, it involves believing that everything that happens to us in our daily lives is part of the Lord’s divine plan. It is a form of surrender where we accept that God’s will is the very best for our lives, even when we do not completely understand why things happened the way they happened.

Think about the areas in your life where you struggle to let go and surrender to God. It could be a specific situation, relationship, or future concern. Recognize that holding onto these anxieties only adds to your burden and prevents you from experiencing the peace that God offers.
Begin your day by practicing surrender through prayer. Lay your concerns and burdens at the feet of the Lord, and ask Him to fill you with His peace. As you go through your day, remind yourself to release control whenever you feel anxiety creeping in, trusting that God is in control and has a plan for your life.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of concerns and burdens. I choose to surrender them all to You, trusting that You are in control and that Your plans for me are good. Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help me to rest in Your love and to trust You with every aspect of my life. Teach me to live in surrender, knowing that You are my refuge and strength. Thank You for the peace that comes from knowing You are with me always. Amen.
