Restoration of Relationships – (Day 4)

Two friends talking together on the street. Multiethnic women

“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Yeshua (Jesus), and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.” – 2 Corinthians 5:18 (NKJV)

Restoring relationships is an essential aspect of our walk with God. Through Yeshua, we have been reconciled to God, and this reconciliation extends to our relationships with others. God calls us to embody this reconciliation in our daily interactions with others, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.

The Season of Teshuvah represents the process of turning back to both God and others after having committed wrongs.

In Leviticus 19:17-18, we see the commandment to avoid holding grudges and to love one’s neighbor. To apply this principle, begin by examining your relationships and identifying any that may be strained or broken. Consider the role you might have played in these situations and reflect on how you can take steps towards restoration. Sometimes, this may involve apologizing for past mistakes, seeking forgiveness, or reaching out to mend a relationship that has suffered.

In 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 it says, “All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”

One practical way to pursue restoration is to make a conscious effort to engage in open and honest communication. Initiate conversations with those you need to reconcile with, and approach these discussions with humility and a desire for understanding. Express your intentions to heal and restore the relationship, and be prepared to listen and respond with grace.

Additionally, commit to practicing kindness and empathy in your daily interactions. Look for opportunities to support and encourage those around you, demonstrating the love of Christ in tangible ways. Small acts of kindness can go a long way in mending broken relationships and fostering a spirit of reconciliation.

Restoration requires patience and persistence. It may not always be easy, but trusting in God’s guidance and relying on His strength can help you navigate these challenges. Pray for wisdom and courage to take the necessary steps towards healing and reconciliation, both with God and with others.

Prayer:

Lord, I come before You acknowledging the importance of restoration in my relationships. I am grateful for the reconciliation You have provided through Jesus Christ and the example You set for us. Help me to apply this principle in my own life by mending any strained or broken relationships. Grant me the humility and courage to seek forgiveness and offer it where it is needed. Guide me in open and honest communication, and help me to approach these conversations with a heart of grace and understanding. Empower me to practice kindness and empathy in all my interactions. May Your Spirit lead me in the process of restoration and healing, and may I reflect Your love and compassion to those around me. Thank You for Your guidance and for the opportunity to restore relationships in a way that honors You. Amen.

Verses to Meditate On:

Ephesians 4:32 (NKJV) – “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

Matthew 5:23-24 (NKJV) – “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

Colossians 3:13 (NKJV) – “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
