“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
Embracing God’s grace involves recognizing our need for His unmerited favor and understanding that it is sufficient to cover all aspects of our lives. Grace is not something we earn; it is a gift that God freely gives, and it empowers us to live out our faith with confidence and humility.
In Hebrew the concept of God’s grace is often expressed by the word “חֵן” (chen), which means “favor” or “grace.” In Genesis 6:8, it says, “But Noah found favor (chen) in the eyes of the Lord.” This indicates God’s gracious, unmerited favor toward Noah. In Psalm 23:6 it says, “Surely goodness and loving-kindness will follow me all the days of my life.” This verse shows us that God’s blessings and grace (chen) are not earned but are freely given.
To apply this principle today, start by reflecting on how God’s grace (chen) has been evident in your life. Acknowledge the times when you have experienced His favor and grace, especially during times of weakness or difficulty. This season of Teshuvah will help you to appreciate the depth of God’s love and the transformative power of His Chen (grace).
Consider how you can embrace God’s grace every day. This may involve letting go of self-reliance and trusting more fully in God’s provision and strength. When faced with challenges or weaknesses, remember that God’s grace is sufficient to see you through. Lean on His strength and rely on His promises.
Embracing God’s grace also means accepting it for yourself and others. Trust in His grace to restore and renew you. Remember that His grace is always available and is a source of strength and hope.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I am deeply grateful for Your grace, which is sufficient for all aspects of my life. I acknowledge that Your grace is a gift that I cannot earn, but that You freely give to me. Help me to fully embrace Your grace and to trust in Your strength during times of weakness and difficulty. Teach me to lean on Your promises and to rely on Your provision in every circumstance. May Your grace be evident in my interactions with others, as I strive to be forgiving, understanding, and supportive. Let Your grace flow through me and impact those around me in meaningful ways. I also ask for Your help in accepting Your grace for myself and letting go of any past mistakes or shortcomings that may hinder my relationship with You. Thank You for Your unending grace and for the strength it provides. Amen.
